Schroeder Ambulatory Centre recognizes the deep and persistent harm caused by colonialism and the residential schools system in Canada. As such, and as part of our overall commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, we are committed to supporting the ongoing work of Truth and Reconciliation in several ways, including:
- Providing education and resources to employees, so that they can understand and actively participate in the process of Truth and Reconciliation.
- Striving to provide culturally appropriate care for Indigenous patients, including continuous review and improvement.
- Including an Indigenous lens in the development and ongoing review and improvement of policies, procedures and operations—and consulting with community members on this wherever possible.
As part of this, Schroeder Ambulatory Centre acknowledges that our facility at 9355 Leslie Street in what we now call Richmond Hill stands on the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Mississauga and Chippewa Nations of the Williams Treaty. Richmond Hill also stands in part on traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee and the Huron Wendat.
