Schroeder Ambulatory Centre’s Gastroenterology clinic provides comprehensive clinical care for people experiencing a wide range of digestive system issues, and referrals to GI endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures conveniently located within the same building. Led by Dr. Zane Gallinger, our clinic provides an exceptional patient experience focused on discretion, maximum comfort and efficient care that helps people diagnose and treat their gastrointestinal conditions, so they can get back to a better quality of life.

Gastroenterological conditions are common, often cause great discomfort and embarrassment, and can severely impact peoples’ lives. Cancer of the digestive system is also diagnosed at gastroenterology clinics. Patients with gastroenterological conditions are often experiencing a range of symptoms, including rectal bleeding, abdominal pain or bloating, bowel issues, acid reflux, difficulty swallowing, nausea or vomiting, unexplained weight loss and other similar issues. They often require follow up GI endoscopy procedures as part of the treatment plan.

Schroeder Ambulatory Centre’s Gastroenterology clinic helps patients with:

  • Cancer screening
  • Rectal bleeding
  • Anemia
  • Change in bowel habits (constipation, diarrhea)

  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Sudden or unexplained weight loss
  • Heartburn or acid reflux
  • Difficulty swallowing

These symptoms are often caused by one or more of the following conditions:

  • Irritable Bowel Syndroms (IBS)
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
  • Liver disease
  • Colorectal cancer
  • Internal or external hemorrhoids

Patients often have a personal or family history of polyps or colorectal cancer.

  • Perianal skin tag removal
  • Consultation and Diagnosis of GI conditions

  • Review and Interpretation of Tests (e.g., labs, imaging, endoscopy reports)
  • Medication Management (e.g., immunosuppressants, acid reducers, biologics)

Important information for Gastroenterology clinic patients

This is a non-procedure gastroenterology clinic—but GI endoscopy and colonoscopy are available within the same building. Patients requiring these procedures will receive a referral from our clinic for these and other specialized services as clinically-appropriate.

When you arrive at the Centre, you will check in with our patient support team on the 5th floor (L5). All of our clinics are also located on the 5th floor (L5), and are fully accessible by elevators located both near the main entrance and where you enter from the parking garage.

Our friendly patient support staff are happy to help with any mobility issues you may have, or just to help you find your way around. If you need any additional support, please mention so when you book your appointment or when you check in at the desk!

Getting ready for your gastroenterology appointment

  • Visit our Getting Here page to get directions, find parking and get other important information to ensure your visit goes smoothly.
  • Bring your Health Card and up to date list of medications
  • Bring any information you have about your previous medical history (including test results) and a referral letter from your primary care doctor (if you have one)
  • Write down a summary of your symptoms and bring them to your appointment
  • Bring a support person if needed
