Mission & Vision
A charitable non-profit solution to a more efficient Ontario healthcare system
Schroeder Ambulatory Centre is an Integrated Community Health Services Centre (ICHSC) and registered charity licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Health to provide publicly insured outpatient healthcare services in community. This means that patients don’t stay at the Centre overnight, and have less complex cases than those handled in hospitals. The result of a generous philanthropic gift from Walter and Maria Schroeder (via the Schroeder Foundation), the Centre is purpose-built from the ground up to reduce surgical and diagnostic backlogs, strengthen public health and empower Ontarians to enjoy a better quality of life.
With 200,000 square feet of space, the Centre adds significant capacity to our public health system, enabling better and more convenient access to both specialized and primary care physicians, as well as diagnostic imaging and ambulatory surgeries and procedures.
Our Evolution
Built to strengthen public health
What started in 2021 as a purchase of an unfinished medical building at 9355 Leslie Street in Richmond Hill has evolved into the largest healthcare facility of its kind in Ontario.
Patients come first
Helping Ontario hospitals reduce backlogs
In keeping with its patient-focused mandate, the Centre prioritizes providing a high volume of OHIP-covered procedures licensed under the Ontario ICHSC Act of 2023. We work with hospitals across Ontario to reduce surgical and diagnostic backlogs, including providing significant new operating room hours and the latest medical technology at our facility. Schroeder Ambulatory Centre also works with higher education institutions to help train nurses and other health professionals, adding much-needed resources to Ontario’s healthcare system.
